Is Glossier cruelty-free? Is Glossier vegan? Glossier is becoming one of the most sought-after it-brands for beauty enthusiasts and influencers alike.
Take a look at any beauty Instagrammer’s feed and you are likely to find at least one Glossier product on display.
The chic minimalist design of the packaging is one thing that attracts so many fans to the brand.
I agree, the actual products inside the packaging are even better! But is Glossier vegan? Is Glossier cruelty-free? I have the details, below!

Is Glossier Cruelty-Free And Vegan?
First, what determines if a brand is cruelty-free?
- The company does not test on animals
- The company does not pay a third party or have suppliers that test their products on animals
- The company does not sell their products in China, where animal testing is done on all products (horrible!)
I’m happy to announce that yes, Glossier is a cruelty-free beauty brand offering cruelty-free makeup, skincare and fragrance. Glossier does not test on animals, nor do their suppliers, and they don’t sell in China.
Furthermore, many Glossier items are also vegan!

The Beauty Industry Is Changing, Slowly
Although there are many awesome cruelty-free beauty brands nowadays, the grim reality is that most big-name and drugstore beauty brands are not cruelty-free.
It is only fairly recently that some major beauty brands are starting to get with the times and ban animal testing. Dove recently went cruelty-free, and now Covergirl is cruelty-free too.
This is huge! Cosmetics giant COVERGIRL has become the largest makeup brand to be Leaping Bunny certified cruelty-free. Furthermore, COVERGIRL’s parent company Coty has partnered with Cruelty-Free International and aims to end animal testing globally.
COVERGIRL is the first of Coty’s brands to achieve this prestigious certification. Coty has committed to at least one more of its brands being certified with the Leaping Bunny by next year.
What Does “Leaping Bunny Certified” Mean?
The Leaping Bunny certification from Cruelty Free International is an internationally-recognized certification for cosmetics, personal care and household product brands which are not tested on animals.
It certifies that COVERGIRL cosmetics are not tested on animals anywhere in the world.
The COVERGIRL website now proudly announces:
COVERGIRLproducts have not been tested on animals, either by us or our suppliers—(Leaping Bunny) is the toughest standard in the world. To get certified, we underwent a rigorous independent audit of our global supply chain from start to finish, ensuring that ALL of our products are free from animal testing.
Consider Me Now A Born Again COVERGIRL
I used to love COVERGIRL foundation in middle school. But that was before becoming woke to animal testing in high school.
Once I learned how awful most cosmetics companies are, I personally boycotted all brands that weren’t cruelty-free.
If we’re counting, I haven’t bought a COVERGIRL product in 19 years.
But that’s about to change now that COVERGIRL is now cruelty-free! Hooray!
Consumers expect brands to be leaders for positive change so today COVERGIRL is taking a stand about making cruelty free cosmetics a mainstream reality. (…) We invite others to join us in turning these conversations into action. – Ukonwa Ojo, Chief Marketing Officer, Coty Consumer Beauty
COVERGIRL Cruelty-Free: Take Note, Non-Cruelty-Free Beauty Brands
I hope this is a wake-up call to every other beauty company. Torturing animals is NEVER ok.
Consumers don’t want non-cruelty-products – EVER. We know that animal testing is completely unnecessary.
It’s time to take a stand.
Earlier this year Dove banned all tests on animals anywhere in the world and was added to PETA’s Beauty Without Bunnies cruelty-free list.
This is progress, and I’m so proud of these brands for stepping up. I hope this is the first of many.
